Xuebin Wei

Dr. Xuebin Wei is an AWS Academy Certified Educator with a Ph.D. in Geography from the University of Georgia. He specializes in cloud computing, data science, and geographic information systems (GIS), and is committed to transforming how data and AI are taught and applied in education.

Dr. Wei has developed a series of cloud-based technology courses that promote hands-on, inclusive learning and prepare students for future careers in data-driven fields. His teaching spans machine learning, big data analytics, cloud infrastructure, and social media analysis, with a focus on real-world applications and workforce readiness.

He is the first author of the textbook Social Data Analytics in the Cloud with AI (CRC Press), which introduces students and professionals to AI-assisted data pipelines using cloud platforms. The book covers essential skills in data collection, storage, querying, and visualization using cloud and generative AI tools.

In recognition of his innovation in teaching, Dr. Wei was selected as a Faculty Ambassador for the AWS Educate Program and received the JMU Excellence in Teaching & Learning with Technology Award in 2019. Through LBSocial LLC, he continues to lead efforts in AI-powered education and consulting for institutions adopting next-generation learning technologies.
