Course Introduction

The following video was used in my JMU classes, not specifically designed for this website.

Goals of the Course

Upon completion of this course, students are expected to

  • Identify and assess the ethical and legal issues related to using data visualizations.

  • Learn different data visualization methods and their strengths and weaknesses for:

    • Numerical Data

    • Categorical Data

    • Spatial Data

    • Social Network Data

    • 3D Data.

  • Create visualizations in a variety of formats and identify their limitations using Tableau, Gephi, Virtual Reality, and other software packages
